5G: THE NEXT GENERATION
5G is the latest generation of mobile network technology with much faster speeds than 4G. With more capacity, 5G also means a better more reliable internet connection - so you can keep watching movies at the train station, video call from the match, and stream music at the shopping centre.
We’ve been nation’s best network for 4G eight years in a row and now we’re the best for 5G too. It’s good news for our customers. And envy-inducing news for everyone else.
To use the 5G network you’ll just need a 5G-enabled device and a 5G pay-monthly phone or SIM-only Smart Plan.
Give me five, the UK’s best 5G network
We’re top of the class for 5G for the third time in a row.* In fact, no other network has ever won the award. So when it comes to 5G with us, you know you’re getting the very best connection.
Here’s why for 5G it’s got to be EE.
A connection you can count on
5G gives you a more dependable connection because it’s built to handle large numbers of people using it all at once. So, when you’re in busy places like train stations and sports stadiums, you’ll experience much less buffering.
5G in more places than any other network
We’ve got the UK’s widest network coverage—so you can be confident that you’ll get a great connection on the go. It means you can enjoy our 5G connection in more places than with any other UK network.
Speeds to be jealous of
We don’t need to tell you that our 5G offers faster mobile speeds than ever before: you can feel it. You’ll feel it when you download a movie in seconds, when you stream a box set at high resolution with lightning speed, and when you experience video calls so crisp that they feel like real life.
EE is the best network for your business collaboration
Best network by ranking first in the RootMetrics Overall RootScore award. So you have the peace of mind knowing you’re in safe hands with EE.
Does 5G use more data than 4G?
5G doesn’t use more data than 4G, but because it lets you do more, more quickly, you might find yourself using more data as a result. With 5G you can download large business files in seconds rather than minutes.
When will 5G arrive in my area?
We’ve already launched 5G in 160 cities and towns across the UK and we’ve moving full steam ahead with our nationwide 5G rollout.
You can use our coverage checker to see you have 5G reception in your area.
We’re miles ahead when it comes to 5G coverage. Currently, our 5G reaches over 40% of people in the UK – more than any other UK network.
Will I get coverage in rural areas?
We go further in rural areas. In Ofcom’s Connected Nations 2020 report, we had 85% geographic 4G coverage—more than any other network. How much more? Well, our lead over closest competitor Vodafone was 2.808 square miles. That’s nearly 20 times the size of the Isle of Wight.
And for those times (the really annoying ones) when you can’t get a mobile signal in a remote rural area? We’ve got the answer — The Go Further part of our network is able to reach across rural areas and into the most remote homes. It’s not our fastest connection, but it’s just enough for browsing the internet, checking social media, and streaming music. It’s a connection you can depend on.
We also cover more miles of road and rail network than anyone else. In London, that coverage includes tube platforms and throughout the Jubilee line from Westminster to Canning Town. Outside the capital, we’re the only network to cover the Newcastle Metro.
*Rankings based on the RootMetrics, UK RootScore Report: H2 (Jul-Dec) 2021. Tested at locations across the UK with the best commercially available smartphones on 4 national mobile networks across all available network types. Your experiences may vary. The RootMetric award is not an endorsement of EE. Visit ee.co.uk/claims for more details.
