ROAMING DATA ADD-ONS

What is data roaming?

Data roaming refers to the use of mobile data services while you’re abroad, like checking social media or downloading an app.

If you’re abroad and you want to do these things unless you’re on wi-fi you’ll need a roaming data add on.

How roaming data add-ons work

If you’ve not arranged before you go abroad, and you try and use mobile data services, we’ll send you a text message with a link to a range of different roaming data add-ons you can buy.

All you need to do is choose the one that suits you best and buy it. That’s it, you can now use mobile data services on your device when you’re abroad.

Why do I need a roaming data add-on?

Roaming data add-ons work as a cap to stop you running up a large bill when using the internet when you’re abroad. If your data add-on runs out, we’ll get in touch and give you the option of buying another. This way you can easily stay on top of how much data you’re using.

If you don't want to use the mobile data services while you're abroad, you can use your device’s settings to turn data roaming off. If you need help to do this on your device, head over to help and support.

Data usage tips

  • Things like streaming videos or music, or playing online games all use data very quickly.
  • Simple things like checking Facebook only once a day can help keep your data usage down.
  • Many apps use location-based services which uses your data without you realising it. It’s easy to turn these off when you're not using them.
