HBO Max launch and TNT Sports moving from discovery+
What’s changing?
From 26 March 2026, HBO Max will launch in the UK.
As part of this update, TNT Sports is moving from the discovery+ app to the HBO Max app.
If you get TNT Sports through your EE plan, you’ll simply start using HBO Max to watch it. Your access to TNT Sports isn’t changing, however you will need to sign up directly to watch other additional channels.
What this means for you
No changes to your EE bill
- The move to HBO Max won’t change the cost of your EE plan.
- There’s nothing you need to pay, add, or upgrade with EE - the switch is included in your plan.
You’ll no longer be able to watch discovery+ entertainment content through EE
- From 26 March 2026, your EE plan will no longer include access to discovery+ entertainment live and on-demand content via the discovery+ app.
- If you want to keep watching that content, you can sign up directly with discovery+.
You can still watch all your TNT Sports live streaming channels
- You’ll still get every TNT Sports channel that’s included in your plan today. The only difference is the app you use to watch them.
How to access the HBO Max app
- Download the HBO Max app
From 26 March 2026, you can download the HBO Max app from:
- The App Store or Google Play Store
- The app store on your smart TV or streaming device
Note: some TVs may already have HBO Max pre-installed.
- Log in with the same details you used for discovery+
If you already activated TNT Sports on discovery+:
- Use the same email and password to sign in to HBO Max.
If you've never activated TNT Sports before:
- You’ll need to activate it now through HBO Max. You can do this on our TNT Sports page.
Can I still watch discovery+ entertainment content?
discovery+ entertainment isn’t included in your EE plan from 26 March 2026. If you’d like to keep watching live streaming channels like Discovery and Animal Planet entertainment content and more, you’ll need to:
- Sign up directly with discovery+ from 26 March 2026
- Create a new account as your EE-linked login won’t work anymore
- Pay discovery+ directly, not EE
Any profiles, watchlists or viewing history linked to your EE access will not transfer - it’s a fresh start.
Upgrading HBO Max in the app
If you’d like more entertainment content than what’s included with your TNT Sports access, you can upgrade to a higher HBO Max tier directly in the HBO Max app.
Any upgrade charges are handled by HBO – not EE.
